[Class 81 (ii).] Apparatus which h can be secured to any bedstead for suspending or extending fractured limbs comprises a preferably cranked upright 5, Fig. 1, clamped to the bedstead at 6, 9 and having secured to its upper end a rod 12 serving as a pivot for two or more horizontal bars 14<1>, 14<2>. The bars are turned downwardly at their ends, in which case they are telescopically adjustable in length, or are clamped by clamps 15 to vertical bars 16, having ferrules 17 carrying screw-bolts at their lower ends. The bars 16 are secured in any desired position to a platform 18 clamped to the bedstead at 19, the screw - bolts being inserted in holes 21a in the platform and being secured by nuts 23. Alternatively one or both bars may be secured to floor blocks 25 having central rods carrying screw-socketed connecting pieces 27 engaged by the screw-bolts on the ferrules 17. A cross-bar 10 may be secured to the upright 5. The bars 10, 141, 142, 16 carry rings and pulleys over which pass cords or chains for suspension and extension purposes or for a handle such as 33 enabling the patient to raise himself in bed. The pulleys &c. are positioned where desired by holes in the bars which are engaged by screwbolts 47, Fig. 4, connected to the pulley 52 and secured by a nut 51. Other positioning means comprise rings or loops 28, 31, Figs. 9 and 10, having projections 29 engaging the holes, the pulleys &c. being tied to the rings or hung upon hooks thereon. The clamp 15, Fig. 2, comprises a baseplate 39 having grooves 41, 42 to position the bars on opposite sides thereof and mutually at right-angles, and straps 40 secured to the baseplate by screw-bolts 43.
