367,019. Synchronous movements. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc., 195, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Knoop, W. A. ; 36, St. Paul Road, Hempstead, New York, U.S.A.) Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34239. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1929. [Class 40 (iii).] Impulses of alternately opposite polarities are produced in response to incoming signals, and are superimposed in rapid succession on a storage device 30, and the preponderance of an impulse of one polarity alters the frequency of an alternating current by which a synchronous device is driven or controlled. In response to each change in polarity of the incoming signals a relay 12 operates to one of its contacts M, S, and shortly afterwards a delayed action relay 13 operates to its corresponding contact M, S, while a distributer brush 18 has passed from one to another of adjacent segments 17. The alternate segments are interconnected in two groups to opposite poles of a battery 19. When the distributer is in synchronism equal amounts of positive and negative charge are successively applied to the high-capacity condenser 30 and neutralize each other. Otherwise a charge of the predominating polarity is superimposed on the normal current produced in an electromagnet 20 by a tuning-fork 15, as described in Specification 339,994, [Class 38 (ii), Electric currents, Converting &c.], to increase or decrease the average grid potential of a valve 21. This increases or decreases the output of valves 21, 23 and hence the amplitude and frequency of the fork, which controls a phonic motor 29 driving the distributer. According to modifications the correcting circuit 11 ends in the windings of two transformers with high-permeability cores, as described in Specification 312,338, [Class 40 (iii), Telegraphs, Electric], Fig. 4 (not shown), or in a relay of the unbiased, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), or biased polarized type, Fig. 8 (not shown). Specification 317,528, [Class 40 (iii), Telegraphs, Electric], also is referred to.
