Abstract

365,319. Weighing-apparatus. FAIRBANKS & CO., E. & T., and BOUSFIELD, A., St. Johnsbury, Vermont, U.S.A. Jan. 14, 1931, No. 1252. [Class 143.] Casings; compound-lever apparatus.-A weighing scale comprises a housing within which the lever system is accommodated, the housing having a central portion 12 and laterallydirected portions 11 extending transversely from the extremities of the centre portion, posts 18 for supporting the housing and a commodity receiver 57 suspended from the lever system. A dial mechanism 49 supports the adjacent ends of two extension levers 35, 44 fulcrumed at their outer bifurcated ends 36 and supporting the adjustable noses of four main levers 27. The supporting posts 18 are tubular and are secured to the floor by feet 19. Hanger rods 55 suspended from the main levers 27 carry angle-irons 56 on which rests a weighcan 57 for the reception of milk &c. to be weighed. Liquid seals 58 prevent entrance of foreign matter at the rod exits. Circulation of air through the posts 18 and scale housing is promoted by an electric lamp 59 and apertures 20 in the posts. A knob 62 and chart 63 are provided for taring purposes.
