Abstract
364,918. Opening by cutting. OLDHAM & SON, Ltd. and WILDE, W. D., 36, Hyde Road, Denton, near Manchester. March 2, 1931, No. 6458. [Class 66.] The lid b of an accumulator is provided with a projecting ring c which rests on a ring d fixed to the inside of the container so as to provide a space e between the lid and the container. A sealing strip f covers the space e which facilitates cutting of the strip f when the lid is to be removed. If the container, lid and strip f are made of celluloid, the ring c is made of a material such as synthetic resin which is insoluble in celluloid solvents. The ring c prevents any shearing action on the strip f. Fig. 2 shows a construction in which the lid b is made of synthetic resin or other material insoluble in celluloid solvents. To enable a celluloid strip f to be fixed to the lid and container a celluloid ring g is let into a groove in the lid. The ring c may be made of celluloid covered with a material insoluble in celluloid solvents and it may be provided as shown in Fig. 3 with a recess h in alignment with the space e to facilitate the entrance of the cutting tool when the lid is to be removed.
