Abstract
Sugar or a sugar combination which has previously been combined with radio-active matter or emanation by crystallization from water containing such radio-active matter or emanation is used for the production of any sugar containing nutriments and table luxuries other than chocolate, especially those prepared without the application of extremely high temperatures, e.g. dragees, fondants, marchpane articles, pralines, cakes, marmalades, jellies, preserved fruits, coffee and condensed milk. Examples are given of the manufacture of (1) marchpane from almonds, cane-sugar and grape sugar which has been crystallized from radium- or emanation-containing water; (2) drops from cane sugar, radio-activated milk-sugar and honey; (3) sugar-containing coffee by sprinkling hot roasted coffee-beans with sugar, part of which is radio-activated milk-sugar, (4) marmalades and (5) condensed milk by mixing fresh milk with sugar containing radio-activated milk-sugar and condensing under vacuum.
