[Class 39 (i).] Cored carbons for conveying large currents are made with a graphite core arranged within the core proper. Figs. 1, 3 and 5 show different forms ; in each case, the letter A denotes the shell, B the core proper, either baked or soft-sprayed, and C the inner graphite core. The core B may consist of a so-called pure carbon, or it may contain metallic salts. The shell A may consist either of amorphous carbon or of graphite ; in the latter case, the shell and inner core may be integral, as shown in Fig. 5.
