364,648. Arranging biscuits &c. for packeting. PATERSON, J. C., BAKER, G. R., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd., Willesden Works, Willesden, London. Sept. 3, 1930, No. 26311. [Class 94 (i).] A device for arranging and stacking biscuits and the like for packeting comprises a feeding web 22, upon which the biscuits are placed haphazard, and which feeds them over a fixed bar 23 inclined downwardly towards a sloping table 24 on which are mounted a number of guide bars 26. The bars increase in depth in the direction of the feed and the table is transversely oscillated by linkage 33 .. 37 a distance preferably equal to that between the centres of adjacent gangways. The biscuits fall into the gangways, and arrive above an upwardly disposed conveyer 25 above which guide bars 142, corresponding to the bars 26, are disposed. The bars 142, 26 fit with a loose tenon and mortise attachment so that the former partake of the motion of the latter. The conveyer feeds the biscuits over a crest and on to a downwardly inclined plate 38, Fig. 5, down which they slide to a stacking wheel 43, having radial arms 44 curved on the forward faces, which receive the biscuits and feed them forward in a vertical stacked formation between fixed guides 49, which maintain the files separate until they arrive on a delivery conveyer passing over a plate which is agitated to cause uniform settling down. The bars 49 engage the bars 142, so that the latter oscillate about their forward ends. Provision is made for varying the distance between the bars to accommodate different sizes of biscuits, the plates carrying the sets 26, 49 being replacable by others carrying bars differently spaced. The forward ends of bars engaging the bars 49 and forming an extension thereof are engaged in slots in a rod which can be rotated to present series of differently spaced slots. In a modified form of machine, one conveyer is arranged to replace the conveyers 22, 25, and, in another form, the bars 26 are not fixed to the table 24 and are caused to have a pivotal movement about their forward ends.
