Abstract

364,608. Electric driving - arrangements for mules ; induction motors. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. -(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts- Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) July 4, 1930, No. 20333. Convention date, July 6, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 120 (ii).] In a mule having an individual electric drive by means of a threephase asynchronous motor the " pull-out torque of the motor is about 20 per cent higher than the load moment of the mule on the outward run and the "pullout slip " is more than 25 per cent. The torqueslip curve 1, Fig. 4, is shown in comparison with the curve 2 of a normal short-circuit rotor motor. The high " pullout slip " may be obtained by increasing the rotor resistance, the resistances a preferably being mounted on the rotor shaft d, Fig. 3, so as to rotate therewith. The cage of resistance bars a is electrically connected with the bars of the rotor winding b and is arranged near the rotor c, a short-circuit ring e being displaceable thereon to vary the resistance if required.
