[Class 141.] In an appliance for pressing, stretching, and hanging up garments, the trouser press comprises upper members 8, 11 and lower members 28, 33 each pair being attached together, e.g. by spring hinges 15, and adapted to be clamped together, one of the upper members being attached to a coat hanger 5 provided with a hook 6 and one of the lower members 28 being adapted to slide against the action of springs 30 which register against fixed abutments 29, on the ends of two members 26, 27 which extend downwardly from the member 8 ; means e.g. cams 31 are provided on the ends of the members 26, 27 to raise and lower the member 28. The member 8, 11 have steps 9 to accommodate the turn ups, and recesses 10, 13 may be provided to accommodate the seams and similar recesses may also be provided in the members 28, 33. The members 11, 8 are locked together by means of lever 22, spring hinge 15<1> and abutment 24. The members 26, 27 may be made up of articulated subdivisions, sliding sleeves to cover the hinges or stops, being provided if desired. After the turn ups have been p aced in the upper members the upper part of the trousers is gripped between the members 28, 33 which are locked together by spring clip 35, and levers 32 which operate the cams 31 are turned upwards through 180‹ and allow the springs to urge the members 28, 33 downwards and thus stretch the trousers. The various parts may be made from plywood, metal or metal in combination with wood and the clamping parts may be lined with felt, baize or other material.
