[Class 44.] In a fastening of the kind comprising two series of elements arranged so that in the fastening position the members of one series alternate with those of the other, the members 21 carried by supports 2, 4 have longitudinal apertures, and each member has mounted therein a cylindrical &c. bolt member 22 having limited longitudinal movement and adapted to be partly projected from its housing member into engagement in the aperture of the adjacent member. The members 22 are successively operated by a spring-member 26 carried by a slider 24 and adapted to pass along the aligned apertures, the member 26 first moving a member 22 to its limit of travel in the direction of movement of the slider and then yielding to pass from that member 22 into similar operative engagement with the next one. Member 26 is carried by an arm 25 extending through a lateral slot 23 in the fastening members.. At the end of its fastening movement the slider may be removed if desired. A modification is described in which the supports 2, 4 are rigid, and the sliding bolt members, which may be provided only in one of the series of fastening elements, are simultaneously operated by a common operating bar to which they are connected either by rigid arms or by pivoted connected levers.
