Abstract
362,745. Dish-washing machines. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V., 12, Church Street, Liverpool.-(Pittsburgh Cleanser Laboratory, Inc. ; 45, Astor Place, New York, U.S.A.) Jan. 23, 1931, No. 2242. [Class 138 (i).] A feeder for powder or like cleansing material for use in washing machines comprises a small close receptacle having inlet and outlet openings for water combined with an open top receptacle whereby the open top provides rapidly a preliminary supply of cleaning fluid. The combined receptacle 20 is shown in Fig. 1 in a, machine for washing dishes comprising a closed vessel in which water collected in the bottom 11 is circulated bya a. pump 18 and sprayed by pipes 13, 14 on to dishes carried by a rack 12. In the combined receptacle shown enlarged in Fig. 2, cleansing material is supplied to the interior and to the open top part perforated at 30. The bottom of the closed part is perforated at 28 and the cover 26 is provided with perforations of varying sizes which may be covered or uncovered by a rotatable plate 26 according to requirements. The water circulated by the pump rapidly washes away the cleansing fluid in the open top receptacle, while that in the interior is used up more slowly.
