Abstract

362,614. Tube cleaners. HOPE, W. E., 25, Water Street, Liverpool. Nov. 7, 1930, No. 33471. [Class 99 (ii).] A cleaning device &c. for tubes comprises a number of flexible brushes, chains, &c. 8, Fig. 1, connected at their ends by flexible springs 7 to eyelets 4 on spaced collars 3, 13 carried by a rotatable shaft 1. Preferably the collar 3 is screwed on the shaft 1 and the collar 13 formed integral. therewith. The brushes, which preferably comprise bristles secured between a pair of wires twisted together, are normally arranged with their axes parallel to the shaft, but they may be caused to lie spirally therearound by displacing the collar 3 angularly relative to the collar 13. The curvature of the brushes may also be adjusted in a like manner. In a modification, for use with bent tubes, the part of the shaft between the collars is made flexible.
