Abstract
362,455. Endless - belt elevators with platform carriers. HEAD, WRIGHTSON, & CO., Ltd., WRIGHTSON, SIR T. G., and RINGQUIST, J. M., Teesdale Iron Works, Thornaby-on-Tees. Sept. 4, 1930, No. 26443. [Class 78 (i).] The platforms 1 are formed of rectangular sheets of rubber-covered canvas along three of the edges of which are secured mild steel bars 2 of convex or half-round cross section. Spirals 4 are threaded through holes formed adjacent to the other edge of the platform and through holes formed in angle-irons 6 secured to a canvas and rubber belt 7. On the descending run the platforms preferably are maintained in an inclined position by guide members 12, but they may be arranged to be horizontal. On the ascending run the platforms hang vertically. The rear of the casing is enclosed by plates 14 which extend up to the lip of the feeding shoot 15, and may be slidable or telescopic with respect to each other. The drums comprise spokes 22, each provided at its outer end with a portion 23 consisting of a portion of a cylinder. The upper drum 8 may be driven through a shaft 16 and gears 17, 18 from a hydraulic motor. In a modification the rate of descent due to the weight of the material is controlled by a centrifugal brake acting on the drum 8.
