Abstract

362,452. Duplex telegraphy. CREED & CO., Ltd. and GRIFFITH, R. G., Telegraph Works, Croydon, Surrey. Sept. 4, 1930, No. 26394. [Class 40 (iii).] In double - current duplex telegraph systems, particularly those of the start-stop type, waste of current is avoided by the use of a sound-reciever switch 2 operated, for instance, by a cam on the usual cam sleeve of a start-stop transmitter. This switch disconnects the apex A of the bridge from the transmitter B during idle periods, and connects it to earth through a resistance E which prevents disturbance of the balance. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the apex A is permanently earthed through the armature of a generator whose field circuit is fed by the transmitter or, during idle periods, is short-circuited by the send-receiver switch 2.
