<PICT:0362337/III/1> A collecting electrode for electrical precipitation apparatus has oblong perforations, the longer edges 1 of which lie at right-angles to the direction of flow of the gas whilst the shorter edges 2 lie in the same direction as the gas flow. The electrode may consist of a screen or wire mesh, and may be fitted with catch-spaces for the dust.
