361,322. Casting-machines. SOC. DES M•TAUX ET M•CHES ADAMANT, 9, Rue Marbeau, Paris.-(Assignees of Karminski, M. ; 11, Van Sicklen Court, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24489. Convention date, Feb. 8. [Class 83 (i).] Electricity, heating by.-Small articles such as cutters are cast centrifugally from tungsten, molybdenum alloys, &c., ready for use without machining, in moulds mounted in an electric furnace carried by a horizontal rotating arm. The furnace comprises a carbon resistance tube m lagged at h, h<1>. The furnace casing is in three parts the end sections having carbon blocks i, i<1> and terminals k, k<1>, leads from which pass down the hollow shaft a. The furnace is mounted on an arm c provided with a balance e which may be adjustable. Moulds.-The metal to be cast is placed in powdered form in a tube in the furnace at o and when melted rotation of the shaft causes it to pass through a funnel q into multiple moulds n separated by narrow runner sections. A cap g<2> on the endplate of the furnace provides for the removal of the moulds. Mould. materials.-The moulds are made of heatresisting material, preferably graphite.
