Abstract

361,256. Gummed and sewn seams for bags. NORSK HYDRO-ELEKTRISK KVãLSTOFAKTIESELSKAP, 7, Solligatan, Oslo, Norway. April 22, 1931, No. 11941. Convention date, April 24, 1930. [Class 112.] To obtain a waterproof seam in a bag, there is disposed. between the bag walls 15, 16, which are of jute coated with a waterproof material and lined with paper 17, a strip of waterproof material 2 folded over on itself and provided with adhesive bands 6, 7 adapted to secure the strip to the inner faces of.the bag walls, the walls and strip being sewn together at 18. The strip 2 is gummed by discs 4, 5 prior to passing over a helical guide 9 associated with a folding head 10 which feeds the strip to the sewing machine 12 between the bag material, the latter being supplied independently along the arrows 15<1>, 16<1>. Heating devices 13 on the guide and head may prevent the gum from hardening.
