[Class 146 (ii).] A model head of wood, hard rubber, &c., for teaching and facilitating the fitting of spectacle and pincenez frames, comprises one or more central portions 1 carrying interchangeable models of eyes and nose, and two side portions 12, 13 provided with movable ears and hinged to the central portion. A metallic element 2 is provided in each of the eye spaces, and similar elements 3, 4, 5 inserted for the nose and the two ears. Each element is provided with holes or slots, designated by numerals and letters, to receive pins or sliding members constructed on the model eyes, nose, and ears so as to enable each of the models to be adjusted. The eyes are provided with pins constructed on fixing surfaces of larger diameter attached to the eyes to enable the eyes to be adjusted at a predetermined distance from the head, and the nose and ears are provided with split pins. The cheek sections 12, 13 are attached by means of hinges 14, 15, arranged perpendicularly to the temples, to the face of the head. By means of adjusting screws 16, 17 the cheeks can be moved in relation to the head to obtain different widths of the head. Instead of being of solid construction such as glass, the eyes may be made of flat sheet metal with a cross on the pupil to aid adjustment of the spectacle lenses. By means of special rubber coverings over the nose or by forming the nose of rubber, pince-nez frames may be fitted on the model head.
