Abstract

358,316. Controlling the tension of yarn when winding conical bobbins. SCHWEITER, W., Postgeba³de, Horgen, near Zurich, Switzerland. Oct. 28, 1930, No. 32381. [Class 120 (ii).] In a machine for winding coned or tapered bobbins, wherein a compensating thread guide above the bobbin oscillates towards and away from the bobbin axis, the oscillations being so timed that the oscillating guide is at the centre of its swing when the traverse guide is at the base or at the tip of the cone the oscillating guide is actuated by a cam. A spindle 2, rotated in a casing 1 by friction wheels 3, 4, carries a drive 5 for a bobbin 6 and a worm 9 which engages a worm wheel 8 loosely mounted on a shaft 7 and provided with cam grooves 10, 11. The groove 10 actuates by means of a roller 26 the traverse bar 12, and the groove 11 actuates by means of a roller 13, a slide 14 which is connected by a link 15 to a double-armed lever 17 mounted on a fixed bracket 16, so that the guide roller 18 is oscillated to and from the bobbin axis. The bar 12 carries a sleeve 21 with the traverse guide 22 and eyelet 23, and a screw spindle 28 is fixed to the casing 1 and carries a wheel 19 which is rotated by friction against the bobbin 20 to cause the thread guide to progress in accordance with the increase of wound thread layers. The thread 24 passes from the delivery bobbin 25 over the oscillating guide 18 to the traverse guide 22. In a modification the shaft 7 may carry an eccentric to which a rod is connected which moves a cable, working in a fixed pipe and carrying the oscillating thread guide. In another modification the shaft 7 carries a cam actuating by means of rollers a slide which carries a steel wire working in a fixed tube, being connected to the wire by a rod.
