Abstract

Disperse systems are made by using as the dispersing agent a quaternary ammonium compound derived from an unsymmetrically acylated diamine, such as may be obtained according to Specification 294,582, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], in conjunction with another substance facilitating dispersion. Such substances are, for example, soaps, gall-acids and their derivatives, sulphonic acids of high molecular weight and their salts, sulphite cellulose lyes, Turkey red oil, albumin, gelatin, glue, saponin, natural and artificial resins, derivatives of cholesterine, phosphatides, gelloses, gum, natural and artificial waxes, wool waxes, solvents and softening agents, organic bases and their salts, inorganic colloids and alkalies. Examples describe the preparation of dispersions of paraffin oil, turpentine, linseed oil, paraffin wax, carbon disulphide and aniline. The products may be used in the textile industry for waterproofing, softening, the production of sizings and dressings; in the leather industry for stopping, waterproofing or softening leather; also in impregnating or coating wood, building materials or the like; also as washing, cleaning or wetting agents; also as lubricants, boring oils, plasticizing agents; also as agents for combating vegetable and animal pests; and in the production of cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations. Specification 240,315, [Class 1 (i), Chemical processes &c.], also is referred to.ALSO:Disperse systems for use as wetting agents are made by using as the dispersing agent a quaternary ammonium compound derived from an unsymmetrically acylated diamine, such as may be obtained according to Specification 294,582, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], in conjunction with another substance facilitating dispersion. Such substances are, for example, soaps, gall-acids and their derivatives, sulphonic acids of high molecular weight and their salts, sulphite cellulose lyes, Turkey red oil, albumin, gelatin, glue, saponim, natural and artificial resins, derivatives of cholesterine, phosphatides, gelloses, gum, natural and artificial waxes, wool waxes, solvent and softening agents, organic bases and their salts, inorganic colloids and alkalies. Examples describe the preparation of dispersions of paraffin oil, turpentine, linseed oil, paraffin wax, carbon disulphide and aniline.
