[Class 107.] Apparatus for spreading asphalt and like coverings on roads &c. comprises a substantially box-shaped body a adapted to be heated and having its base d extended and bent up at one or more sides so as to meet a cutting edge which separates the bent-up portion from a channel formed by a curved plate e applied to the corresponding sides of the box. The box a is heated by coke or other fuel and is closed bv a lid b. A handle c for operating the device is provided.
