Abstract
354,552. Cooling tobacco. UNITED CIGARETTE MACHINE CO., AKT.-GES., 5, Junghansstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Aug. 7, 1930, No. 23673. Convention date, July 15. [Class 29.] Tobacco used in the manufacture of cigarettes is cooled as it leaves the roasting drum by a current of cold air. The tobacco is drawn through a duct a into the cooling chamber b, which contains a rotary carrier having compartments formed by radial plates c, by a current of air produced by a fan connected to an exhaust duct g containing a filter. As the compartments of the carrier align with the duct i, the tobacco is forced against the perforate screen e of the carrier by cold air which is either forced or thrown through the duct i and exhausted from the cooling chamber through a port m. The cooled tobacco is discharged through a port h. The exhaust port m of the cooling chamber may be connected to the duct g.
