354,083. Machines for working land. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 4, 1930, No. 26472. Convention date, Jan. 15. Addition to 351,321 and 351,326. [Class 6 (i).] In rotary machines having spring-mounted tools and rubber buffers held between the prongs of guide forks as described in Specification 351,326, a metal guide-piece or plate is provided at the end of each buffer and is formed with recesses to engage the prongs of the guide fork. The fork prongs 9 guide the shaft of the working tool 6 which is connected by a spring 5 to the tool carrier 2 on the rotary shaft 1. The rubber buffer 7 is fixed in a projection 8 on the tool-carrier and its upper end is embraced by the metal guide-plate 10, which may be loose or connected to the rubber buffer. The prongs 9 fit in side recesses in the guide-plate 10. The rubber buffer may be grooved or rounded. In a modification the guide-plate is rounded over the rubber buffer so that the area of contact with the tool 6 is small. As shown in Fig. 4 the rubber buffer may be thinner at the centre than at the ends so as to allow of lateral expansion of the rubber on compression. With a buffer of normal shape the lower ends of the prongs may be bent outwards.
