Abstract

353,764. Looms with stationary weft supplies. TEFAG TEXTIL FINANZ AKT.-GES., Zurich, Switzerland.-(Assignees of Rossmann, R. ; 50, Hoffmannstrasse, Munich, Germany.) Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28409. Convention date, Sept. 23, 1929. [Class 142 (ii).] In order that any one of several wefts extending from stationary spools b may be moved into position to be engaged by a gripper shuttle l, the wefts e are passed through guiding and tensioning members f, g to clamps d on radially-disposed feeding levers c rockable in bearings c<1> arranged in an arc of a circle as shown in Fig. 7 under the control of pattern mechanism described below, so that a single selected feeding lever may be rocked to a position wherein its clamp d is in the centre of the circle of the bearings c<1> in position for its thread to be engaged by the shuttle. Means, described below, prevent more than one feeding lever being operated at one time. Each clamp d comprises spring-controlled thread clamping jaws d<1>, d<2> and a spring-controlled locking projection d<5>, which can enter between the opened jaws and maintain them open. The shuttle l causes the clamp d of the operative feeding lever to be opened and a clamp on the shuttle then closes on the selected weft, which is thereafter drawn through the shed, the clamp d being maintained open by its locking projection d<5>. The weft is then cut and the cut end is engaged by a downwardly moved clamp i on a thread taking-up rod h, which thereafter moves backwards to the left, its clamp opens, the locking projection d<5> is withdrawn from the clamp d by the action of a stop, and the clamp d then closes on the released thread, after which the feeding lever g returns to its normal inoperative position. Selecting the feeding levers c. Each lever c is connected to a rod o, Fig. 6, guided in an inclined slot x<2> in an extension x<1> of a particular sliding ring x. These rings are controlled by levers w, bars v, feeler needles q and a perforated pattern paper band t on an intermittently-rotated cylinder u. When a feeler needle q falls the corresponding notched bar v is operated by a bar v<2>, a particular ring x is rotated and a particular notched rod o is moved into the path of a segment-shaped knife on a reciprocating bar whereby a particular lever c is operated. Balls s situated beneath blade-shaped heads r on the feeler needles prevent more than one feeler needle descending at one time.
