Abstract

352,542. Composition fuel. RUDEMAN, L., 138, Van Blankenburgstraat, The Hague. April 11, 1930, No. 11592. [Class 50.] Peat is dried to reduce its water content to 40-60 per cent and after a preliminary breaking up in a rotary breaker 2 is mixed with pitch in a disintegrating mill 3 to an amount of 2-6 per cent by weight of the finished briquettes. The mixture passes through a classifier 4 into a rotary vessel 5, a waterproofing phenolic substance, which may comprise creosote, carbolic acid, waste sulphite lye or heavy coal tar oils, also being introduced from a reservoir 7 by means of an injector 9 supplied with compressed air. The mass is then treated with superheated steam at 200 400‹ C. in a pug mill 10, and is discharged into an open stirrer 12 which feeds the moulds of a number of briquette presses 13.
