Abstract
352,502. Loom dobbies. STAœBLI, H., STAœBLI, H., STAœBLI, R., and STAœBLI, H., (trading as STAœBLI & CO., GEB.), Horgen, Switzerland. April 10, 1930, No. 11399. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1929. [Class 142 (i).] With hooks controlled through relay arrangements from a paper pattern.-The hooks 1 are raised from or allowed to fall on to the lifting-knives by vertical needles 3, 4 standing in eccentric positions on the heads 7 of supporting- needles 5, 6 oscillatably supported in bars 8, 9, which are raised and lowered by means of cams on a shaft 13. The bars are controlled by eyes in wires 21, 22 in bell-crank levers mounted loosely on a shaft 25 and furnished with wires 23, 24 from which reading needles 26 are suspended. These are all raised periodically by a stirrup fixed to the shaft 25, which is oscillated by an arm 29 thereon and a cam disc 28. When the stirrup descends, certain needles 26 enter perforations in a perforated endless paper pattern band on a cylinder 19 and the corresponding wires 21 (or 22) move selected needles 5 (or 6) into inclined positions. The other needles remain in vertical position and when the movable bars 8, 9 fall are held raised by fixed bars 20 having vertical webs against which the needles 5, 6 are pressed owing to the eccentric disposition of the needles 3, 4. Certain hooks 1 are thereby held raised and others are allowed to fall on to the lifting knife 2. The cylinder 19 is rotated intermittently by a ratchet wheel 18 actuated by a cam 17 and two pick readings occur for each feeding movement. The bars 8, 9 for the needles 3, 4 for the lower and upper hooks 1 respectively are actuated alternately, and the dobby causes correct releasing of the sheds of previous picks when worked backwards, if the card cylinder is previously reversed two picks or if instead of feeding the cylinder and reading the pattern &c. whilst the lifting knives 2 are crossing, these actions are timed to occur during the last motion of these knives the dobby will work correctly backwards without previously adjusting the cylinder 19. A modification is described wherein the fixed bars 20 are dispensed with and the moving bars only raise selected supporting needles. Modifications are also described wherein springs 40, Fig. 6, are interposed between the needles 21, 22 and the supporting needles 31, 32.
