[Class 19.] A toothbrush is so constructed that considerable pressure can be applied to the teeth to remove films, stains, tartar, and other accumulations. A single comparatively short straight tuft of rigid bristles 27, Fig. 2, is secured in a socket 23 set more or less at right-angles to a brush handle 10. The bristles are embedded in rubber set preferably in a hard rubber base 28 forced into the socket under pressure. The hard rubber base extends substantially half the length of the bristles and prevents spread. The handle 10 is hollow and provides a magazine for dental floss 15 which can be cut off by a spur 20 on a metal cap 17. Preferably, a cap 21 houses the exposed end of the dental floss to prevent contamination. A mirror 22 on the cap 21 provides means for examining the teeth. An additional cap 35 serves to house extra bristle tufts 27. The socket 23 is preferably threaded into the handle 10. The bristle element 27 is so compact as nearly to resist the penetration of a pin between the bristles. In a modification, Fig. 3, an ordinary handle 29 is used with the bristles rubber set and similarly forced under pressure into a socket 32, Fig. 4, formed in the head 33. In another modification the handle 10 is made solid. In another modification, Fig. 7, the bristle element 48 is mounted at an angle to the handle axis.
