Abstract

351,743. Stethoscopes. PHILPOTT, E. W. and HOPKINS, J. A., 8, Meredith Street, Clerkenwell, London. July 1, 1930, No. 19926. [Class 81 (ii).] A stethoscope is formed with a flat bell-shaped cheat-piece c, having a diaphragm e, and a funnel b formed integral therewith, the double chestpiece being rotatable upon a valve tube i having apertures f, g at rightangles to one another. The tube i is connected to ear piece tubes h. The construction enables either chest-piece to be used, to the exclusion of the other, in positions in, and at right-angles to, the plane of the tubes h respectively. The operative positions may be determined by a snap-action fastener such as a spring blade on the chest-piece engaging any one of four recesses in an adjacent portion of one of the tubes h.
