Abstract

A size and finish for fibrous materials, suited for simultaneous sizing and dyeing of cotton and artificial silk, comprises a solution of a methylated cellulose, to which softening agents, such as fats, oils, waxes, higher aliphatic alcohols, sulphonation products of any of these, or soaps, or hygroscopic substances, such as glycerine, may be added.ALSO:Sizes for fibrous materials comprise a solution of a methylated cellulose, such as dimethyl cellulose, with or without additions such as softening agents e.g. fats, oils, waxes, higher aliphatic alcohols, sulphonation products of any of these, or soaps, and hygroscopic substances such as glycerine. They are suited for simultaneous sizing and dyeing of cotton and artificial silk, and are not attacked by bacteria.
