Abstract

350,371. Television. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Kell, R. D. ; 111, Sanders Avenue, Scotia, New York, U.S.A.) Nov. 17, 1930, No. 34620. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1929. [Class 40 (iii).] A narrow frequency band of the picture signals is removed and replaced by a synchronizing signal. At the transmitter, Fig. 1, a rotating disc 13 scans an object 11, and reflected light falls on a photoelectric cell 15 to produce the picture currents, from which a narrow frequency band is eliminated by a filter 18. An alternator 19 on the shaft of a motor 20, which drives the scanning-disc, produces the synchronizing signal, which is combined with the remainder of the picture signal in a wireless transmitter 17. At the receiver, Fig. 2, the picture signals are applied through an amplifier 23 to modulate a light source 22. The synchronizing frequency is separated by a thermionic valve 29, back-coupled so that the resistance of a tuned circuit 34, 35 approaches zero at the synchronizing-frequency, and supplied through an amplifier 28 to drive a motor 24 coupled to a scanning-disc 26. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 332,284, [Class 40 (iii), Telegraphs, Electric].
