Abstract

350,354. Mudguards. JONES, H., Oakrood, Church Lane, Middleton St. George, near Darlington. Sept. 29, 1930, No. 29050. [Class 136 (i).] A metal mudguard for motor cars has the outer side valance protected by a moulded rubber buffer shaped to cover the whole or the greater part of the outer face of the valance. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the outer valance a is pierced to receive screwed studs b or other fastening devices secured in the moulded buffer c. In other forms the valance is formed or provided with a lipped or rimmed edge at the top and bottom to receive a bead formed around the edge of the buffer. In a construction of this kind shown in Fig. 6, the buffer c is provided with an inflatable inner air tube d. The inner surface of the buffer and the outer surface of the valance may be provided with interengaging projections and recesses. The buffer may be reinforced with fabric &c., and may be ribbed, fluted, &c., on its outer surface.
