Abstract
350,267. Coin-freed liquid-dispensing apparatus. SZ‡NTË, S., 4, Thek Endre Ucca, Budapest. June 27, 1930, No. 19568. [Class 27.] The apparatus comprises a container 2 and a quantity measuring chamber 3, Fig. 2, which can be connected through a two-way valve 5 operable by a handle 16 on the insertion of a coin, the shaft operating the valve serving also to actuate a cup delivery mechanism. As the chamber 3 fills, air is forced out through a whistle 10 at the top of a narrow tube 9, a cup 8 meanwhile having been delivered on to a platform 7 behind a hinged flap 14 ; when the whistle ceases to operate, the handle is moved in the opposite direction, the chamber 3 then being connected through the valve 5 with a delivery tube 6 located above the cup. Heat insulation is provided round the interior of the casing 1 to preserve the liquid, which is also stirred every time the handle 16 is operated. Articles stored in piles.-The flanged cups 8 are piled within a container 12, Figs. 2 and 6, delivery being effected by means of two pairs of leaf springs 59 having inturned ends 60, 61 engaging the flanges of the cups ; these springs are actuated by cams ori shafts 54 which are rocked by linkwork 62, 63, 37 connected with the shaft operating the valve 5. The flange of the lowest cup normally rests on the lower members 60, and the first operation of the handle 16 causes these members to release the cup, which is also given a positive thrust by radial projections on the shafts 54, and passes down an incline on to the platform 7 ; meanwhile the members 61 have moved inwards to engage the flange of the cup above. The reverse operation of the handle 16 withdraws these members and restores the members. 60 to their original position. Empty notices, displaying.-A weight rests &c. on the uppermost cup, and is connected by a cord to a warning notice which is exhibited behind a window when the cups are almost exhaustible. Coin action, mechanical-connection.- The coin passes into a recess 28, Fig. 3, in a drum 25 mounted on the valve-operating shaft and carrying a disc 24, a pin 31 on which is connected through linkwork to the cup delivery mechanism. The shaft 15 operated by the handle 16 carries a pinion 18 for operating the stirring mechanism and terminates in a disc 19 carrying a semicircular flange 20 which embraces, but does not normally engage, the drum 25. After the insertion of a coin, actuation of the handle causes the flange 20 to engage the coin and rotate the drum 25, the coin falling out into a shoot on the completion of the stroke. On the return stroke, a detent 21 on the disc 19 engages a recess in the drum 25 and restores it to its original position. Returning coin.-The coin 29 is inserted into a channel 43, Figs. 2 and 10, consisting of two halves pivoted at 44, and normally passes into a shoot 46 which conducts it into the recess 28. In the event of its jamming in the channel, the operation of a spring-pressed plunger causes a conical member to engage a projection 49 on one half of the channel, separating it from the other half against the action of the spring 45 and releasing the coin, which is returned through a shoot 47.
