349,182. Corrugating tubes &c. VEREINIGTE STAHLWERK AKT.- GES., 67, Breitestrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. March 13, 1930, No. 8167. Convention date, July 18, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] Sheet-metal containers such as steel barrels are formed with rolling ribs and reinforcing corrugations in one operation by two pairs of rib forming and corrugating rolls carried by a pair of parallel shafts. The rib-forming rolls 5 carried by sleeves 6 on the shaft 2 are normally pressed by a spring 7 so that they are out of alignment with their cooperating rolls on the shaft 1 ; these pairs of rolls are gradually brought into co-operating engagement so that the metal is drawn in uniformly from both sides so as to retain its wall thickness. The corrugations are formed by two pairs of rolls 3.
