Abstract

To restore the filtering properties of kieselguhr, which has been used, for example, in the treatment of sugar liquors, it is agitated in a boiling solution of hydrochloric or other mineral acid, the mixture being then separated in a filter and the cake formed washed with hot water and dried by means of steam while still in the filter.
