Abstract

345,914. Alternating-current motors. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13A, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. July 28, 1930, No. 22709. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1929. Addition to 286,436, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.]. [Class 35.] In a Rontgenray tube having an anticathode forming the rotor of a motor according to the parent Specification, the anticathode is displaceable relatively to a fixed member, which, when in thermal contact with the anticathode, removes heat therefrom, the thermal contact being broken during rotation and maintained closed at rest. As shown, the anticathode consists of an iron part 11 and a copper part 9 screwed together and enclosing a copper sleeve 14 formed with a shoulder 23. A spindle 15 of iron-chromium alloy has an enlarged conical head 17 closely fitting in the anticathode, and contains a tube 19 supplying a cooling liquid, cushions 12, 13 in two or more parts, formed of a mixture of copper and graphite, are secured in the anticathode, and bear on the spindle, the axial movement being limited by the shoulder 23. A helical spring 21 bears on the part 11 and the cushion 13. The part 11 is so arranged that when the circuit is closed through the windings 6 of the stator, the rotor is moved axially against the action of the spring and away from the head 17. In a modification the spring is omitted and the anticathode falls by gravity on the head when the circuit is opened. The inner surface of the envelope may have a conducting coating to prevent the formation of an electric-field in the air-gap of the motor.
