[Class 100 (ii).] Rotary machines; printing-surfaces.-A machine for printing strips of tickets is constructed with a printing drum 2 formed of a cylindrical member to which is detachably secured a segmental typereceiving member 3 formed as shown with curved grooves for receiving the types. The member 3 may be replaced by a similar member formed with longitudinal grooves for receiving the types, so that tickets can be printed side by side, or end to end on a strip 5. The strip 5 is fed forward intermittently as the drum 2 rotates by means of a segmental bar 6 which is secured in a groove 4 of the segment 3 in the same manner as the types or type-bars are secured in the grooves. To ensure a space at the leading edge of each ticket a linelimiting bar 9 is secured to the bar 6 at right-angles to it, and is of less height than the types so as to prevent it from being inked. The bar 6 engages one edge only of the strip, and it coacts with a rubber-covered impression roller 7 to effect the feed. The other edge of the strip may be guided by means of pins or clips 5a, Fig. 1, which serve for attaching the printed tickets to goods. The types and the bars 6, 9 are locked on the grooves 4 by means of a slide 10, Fig. 4. Inking-apparatus.-The type is inked by rollers 11 which are adjustable longitudinally on a shaft 12 on which they rotate freely. The rollers 11 are secured in the desired position by means of catches 14 engaging the required annular grooves 13 in the shaft 12, as shown in Fig. 1. The rollers 11 are set so as to act only on the type, and the bar 6 is prevented from being inked.
