344,948. Commutator switching- arrangements. ROSENKILDE, E., 15, Norregade, Copenhagen, and ROSENKILDE, H., 381, Gl. Mosevej, Bagsvoerd, Denmark. Dec. 16, 1929, No. 38478. [Class 38 (ii).] In a vibrating rectifier as shown in Fig. 1 the armature h carried by a spring blade g vibrates in a lateral gap i, Fig. 2, formed in a closed iron core a the armature being polarized by a permanent magnet l so that it vibrates in accordance with the alternations of an A.C. supply fed to a primary winding a. Secondary windings c, c<1> are also mounted on the core a one end of each being connected to the positive output terminal k the other end of the windings passing to fixed contacts e, e at the sides of the spring g. Thus the vibration of the armature connects the windings c, c<1> alternately to the negative output terminal k so that unidirectional current impulses are produced in the output circuit. If single wave rectification is to be produced one of the terminals e and one of the secondary windings are omitted. To restrain natural vibrations and other undesirable mechanical vibrations of the armature, a resistant body (not shown) such as a rubber cushion is arranged with its surface parallel to the direction of motion of the armature so as to be in continuous frictional engagement with one or more sides or edges thereof.
