[Class 27.] Delivery of articles stored in piles; storage.-Articles are stored in two piles 1, 2, Fig. 3, in a magazine 3, the pile 2 being disposed in a frame 8 which has two bars 10, 10a slidable in horizontal slots 11 in the magazine 3, so that, when the articles of the pile 1 are nearly exhausted, the pile 2 is moved forwardlv into their place. The frame 8 is moved forwardly, when a catch device is released, by a pair of springs 16 connected to the frame and to the short arms 15 of bellcrank levers 13, 15, the long arms 13 of which are connected to the bar 10. The short arms 13 are also connected by links 17 to the short arms of other bell-crank levers, the long arms of which are connected to the bar 10a. The catch device comprises a pair of slidable vertical rods 22, each jointed to a lever 24 and normally located with its upper end obstructing a projection on the end of the bar 10a. The levers 24 are pivoted at 25 and have their front ends formed by a cross-bar 27 on to which a roller or ball 32, arranged on top of the pile 1, drops to release the catch. The roller has trunnions 33 engaging flanges 3a on the magazine 3, the flanges being gapped at 34 near their lower ends to allow the roller to pass on to the catch. The bottom 31 of the recess in the delivery drawer 7 is inclined so that the packets 1a of the pile 1 become slightly tilted to ensure that the roller 32 will roll forwards on to the catch.
