Abstract
344,350. Feeding webs. DEVALS, A. MEIFRED- and RENAUD, E., 86, Rue de Bondy, Paris. Nov. 26, 1929, No. 36238. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1928. [Class 100 (i).] In apparatus for winding and unwinding endless bands, such as kinematograph films, of the type in which the band is unwound from the inside of a coil and is rewound on the outside, the coiled film is placed edgewise on a disc 6, Fig. 2, which carries a concentric upwardly tapered core 7, and guiding rollers are dispensed with in connection with the unwinding of the coil from the disc. In the apparatus described the mass of the film is divided between three carrier discs 6, 61, 611, being fed from the centre of one disc to the periphery of the next by means of sprocket wheels mounted on a shaft 11 which is driven from the main shaft through a clutch member 25. The discs are all mounted on a shaft 8 driven from the shaft 11 by chain and sprocket gear. The clutch 25 is actuated by a lever 27 controlled by a spring 30 and the film loop 34, so that when the film is stopped in the gate of the projector the clutch is thrown out by the tightening of the loop to stop the winding, and is thrown in again after the loop is formed by the restarting of the feed through the gate.
