Abstract

343,266. Drilling &c. machines. CASH, J., of Denbigh Engineering Co., Ltd., Horseley Heath, Tipton, Staffordshire. Jan. 15, 1930, No. 1396. [Class 83 (iii).] A feeding and setting device for drilling and other machine tools of the kind wherein a clutch for the power feed is engaged and disengaged by the lever which is normally used for hand feeding, comprises a feeding pinion 5 secured to a shaft 4 which has looselymounted thereon a power-driven worm wheel 6. Clutch teeth 6<b> on the boss of the worm wheel co-operate with teeth on a clutch part 9 splined to the shaft 4, a spring (not shown) being preferably provided for maintaining the clutch in engagement. Independent radial levers 10 are supported by ballended bushes 11 in a casing 8 rotatable on the wormwheel boss and are pivoted between radial lugs 9b on the clutch part 9 so that oscillation of one of the levers in a plane containing the axes of the lever and the shaft 4 will disengage the clutch and allow hand rotation of the pinion 5 to set the drill &c. into position quickly. The casing 8 surrounds the outer end of the feed shaft 4.
