Abstract

342,877. Packeting pills. DONATI, L., 60, Ambler Road, Finsbury Park, London. Oct. 20, 1930, No. 1868. [Class 94 (i).] In apparatus, for delivering .predetermined numbers of pills for bottling &c., and of the kind in which an apertured slide is traversed beneath a supply hopper to deliver the pills to a shoot, adjustable means are provided to regulate the number delivered. The apparatus is shown in plan in the Figure, the slide 4 being traversed beneath a hopper 11 by the engagement of a pinion on a hand-wheel 10 with a rack 8. The hopper is wider at the bottom than the top, to prevent jamming, and the slide is provided with apertures 5, each of a size suitable to accommodate one pill, which falls down the shoot 16 when the slide moves to the left. The apertures are arranged in staggered formation so that the pills drop successively ; in the example shown, each aperture is displaced by one-third of a.diameter. In a modified form, the apertures are in rows at right-angles to the direction of travel and the slot at the top of the shoot is inclined. In order to set the apparatus to deliver a predetermined number at each stroke, a stop 12, adjustable with relation to a scale 13, is arranged to engage a projecting cross-member 14 on the slide.
