Abstract

342,787. Endless s belt conveyers ; shoots. SPILLERS, Ltd., 40, St. Mary Axe, and GILES, F. C., 17, King George Avenue, Custom House, both in London. Nov. 6, 1929, No. 19904/30. Divided on 343,021, [Group XIX]. [Class 78 (i).] Sacks &e. during their passage along a gravity shoot are arrested by a fixed barrier B over which they are lifted one at a time by a device C. The barrier comprises a number of spaced battens arranged on the bottom of the shoot. The parts of the bottom between the battens are cut away to permit the passage of a number of arms C fast on a shaft c<1> which is driven by a motor D. A switch S fitted to the movable bottom p<1> of the loading stool stops the motor when the bottom is depressed by a sack and causes the next sack to be detained at the barrier until the first sack is removed. The barrier clearing device may be combined with a counting device as described in Specification 343,021, or a counter T actuated by a pivoted plate Q, Fig. 1a, may be provided. The arms C may be adjustable radially in order to permit regulation of the extent to which a sack is moved over the barrier at each revolution. The barrier may be placed between two endless belt conveyers and the arms used to transfer a sack from one conveyer to the other.
