Alloys suitable for use in the armouring of submarine cables consist of aluminium with 0,5-4 per cent of silicon or manganese; aluminium with 4 per cent of copper, 0,5 per cent of manganese, amd 0,5 per cent of magnesium; or aluminium with 4,5 per cent of copper, 0,75 per cent of silicon, 0,5 per cent of manganese, and 0,5 per cent of magnesium.
