Abstract
340,033. Hebblethwaite, A. G., and Hurtley, F. June 16, 1930. Turning sewn articles inside out.-In an air current stocking &c. turning apparatus, a pedaloperated valve is provided for reversing the direction of the current. The current is set up by a fan b operated by a motor and causes air to flow along the tube s on which the stocking is held by the operator. The direction of the current is governed by the valve vane g, held in the normal position by a spring and pulled into the opposite position by a pedal chain. In the normal position, shown in full lines in Fig. 2, the fan b sucks air along the tube s towards the fan. If turned to the position shown in dotted lines, air is sucked up through a hole in the casing d into the fan chamber and expelled through the pipes t', s so producing a current in the pipe s in an outward direction. In turning stockings the end is held by the operator and the toe sucked into the tube. If the stocking is inadvertently released by the operator, a gauge stop 40, Fig. 7, and hinged tube permit of its easy recovery.
