Abstract
339,284. Ware, H. M. Sept. 2, 1929. Non - metallic hollowware; ends; bottoms; linings, coatings, &c.- Containers of the kind described in Specification 337,364 are made by folding and pleating single blanks of paper or other flexible material to produce the required configuration and subsequently pressing and waxing or otherwise proofing the containers to eliminate the elasticity of the pleated portions and produce a rigid and continuous surface. To make the container shown in Figs. 1, 2, the blank is folded and the end portions thereof pleated, the pleats b, b<1> springing from the ends of the line g, g on which the blank is folded. The periphery of the blanks may be scalloped in order to produce a regular mouth edge. The pleats may be perforated or embossed to enable the wax to enter and key them together as described in Specification 337,810. The bottoms of the containers may be formed with pleats which are subsequently compressed together to produce the V-shaped end.
