Abstract

Electrostatic screens. -In a condenser type of insulator comprising layers of metal foil a, Fig. 1, embedded in insulating material d, the ends of the foils are folded over one or more times, as shown in Fig. 2, in order to reduce the intensity of the dielectric stress in the vicinity of the edges b of the foils. In order to maintain uniform the thickness of layers, the folded ends of the foil may be made nearly to abut, as shown in Fig. 3. The outer surfaces of the layers may be secured to the insulating material by varnish.
