Abstract

339,078. Wigley, F. S. Nov. 5, 1929. Body harness.-A parachute harness comprises a sling applied to a garment by being threaded through tubular pockets or channels integral with or attached to the garment in such a way that the harness takes practically the whole of the load. As shown, the harness consists of two loops 2, 3 each composed of six parallel groups of silk cords threaded freely through double layers of tubular pockets 5<2> at the sides of the seat and hips, and where the two loops 2, 3 overlap, and through single layer pockets 5, at the sides and shoulders at front and back and pockets 6 in a belt 7 fastened inside the garment near the waist. The cords are fastened with a single joint at the seat and emerge freely through guide plates secured detachably in the suit over the shoulders. The cords when they emerge may be fabric covered, and have snap hooks 18 or other fastenings for attachment to the parachute. A holding down ring 19 may be attached under the seat where the cords are knotted together. The harness may be combined with a flying suit having a detachable lining.
