Abstract
338,851. Mairs, W., and Gibson, J. June 22, 1929. Haycocking-machines.-Hay is raised from the ground by a drum 1 rotated in the opposite direction to the carrying wheels and fitted with guides 2 in which resiliently supported rods 4 carrying spring-supported tines 5 are reciprocated by connections to stationary eccentrics 10. The drum is carried by hinged links 11 and may be adjusted in height by engaging a pin in holes in a bracket 13 or may be raised clear of the ground by a hand lever 14. The hay is carried over the drum to an elevator consisting of an outer endless belt 17, adapted to swing outwards in accordance with the quantity of hay being lifted, and an inner endless belt the frame of which is mounted by a pivot 19 or brackets on the main frame and supported by backstays 21 that can be freed to permit the belts to be folded down for transport. The hay is discharged from the elevators into a mould 22 braced at its front side to the elevator frame and provided at its rear side with hinged doors 28 that may be opened to discharge a cock. The rear part 29 of the mould may be held against the cock during its discharge to steady it. The mould is carried on a platform 23 that can be tilted on its supporting pivot to let the cock be discharged, and an attachment may be provided to give an initial movement to the cock.
