Abstract

Optical apparatus; film-driving mechanism. - Relates to the reproduction of sound from an optical record on a film in which the film at the portion of its path where it is moved in front of a slight slit is maintained taut between two guiding rollers. In the tube a are placed a light source b, a system of condensing lenses c, and a light slit d. The light passing through the film e is directed on to the photo-electric cell f by means of a mirror g and a lens h, and sound reproduction is effected through the circuit i containing an amplifier j and a. loud speaker k. The portion n of the film e is maintained taut between two guiding rollers o, p, which are coupled to the driving mechanism by transmissions g, r, respectively, so adjusted that the roller p tends to be driven at a higher peripheral speed than the roller o. Between the transmission r and the roller p is inserted a friction coupling s so adjusted that its driving member slides on the driven member to such an extent that both guiding rollers move the film at the same speed while maintaining the part h of the film e at a desired tension.
