Vehicle fittings.-A truck for transporting brick racks &c. from the press to the drying field &c. is fitted with a platform or platforms at one or both sides and with a parallel motion mechanism for swinging the platforms outwards and downwards. The truck A has two platforms o<1> on each side for receiving the brick racks B. Mounted in the truck frame are rack bars k<1> and sliding bars l<1>. Bent levers m<1> are connected by pivots u<1> to the platforms, by pivots s<1> to the sliding bars, and by pivots r<1> to the rack bars. Parallel-motion links n<1> are also pivotally connected to the platforms and to the sliding bars. By means of a handwheel operating through bevel gearing a toothed wheel f connected by suitable gearing h<1>, i<1> to the rack bars, these bars are moved outwards carrying with them the sliding bars until spring- pressed catches z' engage notches z<2> in the sliding bars, thus holding the sliding bars against further movement. Continued movement of the rack bars then causes through the parallel-motion linkage an outward and downward movement of the platforms parallel with themselves to the ground level. By means of a lever z connected by a cord z<4> to the levers z<3> carrying the catches z', the catches are released and the platforms are withdrawn from under the brick racks and return to their normal position.
